The ‘ssa’ discussion list has been established to serve the members of the Slovak Studies Association as a means of sharing questions and information related to the field of Slovak studies

An electronic discussion list is an internet service that sends email messages to all those people who have chosen to “subscribe” to the list (like subscribing to a magazine or newspaper). Once you have subscribed and are a member of the discussion list, you automatically receive all messages that are sent for discussion by other subscribed members, and you can send messages for discussion which will automatically be received by all other subscribers.

Things to Come: The listserv will continue to serve the members for a long time to come, but developments in our website will make it possible for members to recieve alerts about new developments in other ways. Foremost among these is RSS, a way of notifying  you unobtrusively through your web browser or email program that there have been changes to a website. We will be writing more about RSS when we have enabled all of this website's features.

To subscribe to the ‘ssa’ electronic discussion list (this means you will any email posted by any other subscriber.  Recently this has meant about 1 or 2 messages per month, though sometimes as many as 10.

1. Using your e-mail program, address a message to: listserv@lsv.uky.edu
2. In the body of the message (the subject line should remain empty) simply type the following:      subscribe ssa Firstname Lastname      [Type your actual first and last names, not the words ‘Firstname’ ‘Lastname’.]
3. Be sure to send the subscribe message from the e-mail account that you will use to send and receive messages for the SSA discussion list.

To post a message to the list (anything sent to the address below will go to everybody in the list):

1. Address your message to: ssa@lsv.uky.edu
2. Give your message a clear “subject” heading
3. Be sure to send your message from the same e-mail account that you used to subscribe to the SSA discussion list.

The message will be sent to all who are subscribed to the list. Note that you will not be allowed to post messages to the list unless you are approved for posting by the list owner. Only members in good standing of the Slovak Studies Association will be allowed to post messages to the list.

To unsubscribe from the ‘ssa’ electronic discussion list (this means you don't want to receive or post messages):

1. Using your e-mail program, address a message to: listserv@lsv.uky.edu
2. In the body of the message (the subject line should remain empty) simply type the following:
   
   
3. Be sure to send the unsubscribe message from the same e-mail account that you used to subscribe to the SSA discussion list.
